On a lovely street of unique Piedmont houses is this classic, refined. level-in home. Out front, a wood gate opens to a beautiful stone courtyard with a built-in perimeter bench and beds of colorful flowers. The tasteful outdoor lighting makes this space absolutely glow in the evening light.

Heartfelt Design and Living - Inside, hardwood floors run wall to wall on all three levels. Windows to the east catch morning sunrises and windows to the west frame tangerine sunsets over the Piedmont hills. Gorgeous!

A broad foyer with a quintessential wood-banister stairway leads into the living room with a fireplace centerpiece and doors to the back deck. Also opening onto the deck through French doors is the adjacent dining room featuring built-in cabinetry. These doors surely remain open for fresh air and easy flow onto the deck for sunny barbecues or dining under the stars.

The open kitchen is beautifully designed and offers social bar seating. It’s fully equipped for the chef with top-on-line appliances: Thermador range and oven, cabinet-paneled fridge, and dishwasher. The sink under the bay window with vivid views gives cleaning up a major upgrade.

Functional Floorplan - Upstairs are three bedrooms laid out to keep loved ones close. All three take part in the colorful views out sunny windows and include generous closets. The bath is ultra-charming with oh-so-sweet tile work of whites and light blues surrounding the vanity and cast-iron tub. Think warm soaks after a full day.

Downstairs Delight – The lower-level bonus floor comprises a full family room, two more rooms for study/art/storage, and a second full remodeled bath with subway tile and a new shower and vanity. To top it off, the spacious laundry room includes a tiled dog-washing station with a hand-held shower. Furry friends will love their spa-like experience!

This level opens onto the large backyard with a flat lawn, patio, brick outdoor fireplace, tall trees for shade and privacy, and manicured flora providing pops of color. A home of this category along with its Piedmont location—featuring top-notch schools, parks, and amenities—makes for an exceptional opportunity.

Location, Location, Location! - Stroll to all 12 years of highly-rated public schools, parks, and nearby Lakeshore and Grand Avenue shops and restaurants; this location truly can't be beat!

With all of that said, the best way to really understand home is to hear from the people who have lived there. Here is a note from the sellers.

Hello Friends,

Our family moved to the San Francisco Bay area from Portland, Oregon about 20 years ago, drawn by work, and excited to explore new opportunities in this rich and beautiful region. In considering several communities for our new home, friends and colleagues recommended that we check out Piedmont. We learned about the excellent Piedmont schools, community engagement and Piedmont’s proximity to both urban and natural landscapes – where one could enjoy a morning hike in a Redwood forest, grab an afternoon coffee on Piedmont Avenue or Mulberry’s and enjoy dinner in Oakland, Berkeley, or the City.

We spent some time visiting and were immediately drawn to the beautiful Piedmont neighborhoods and inviting homes. We discovered lovely parks and trees throughout the community, and most importantly, we noticed people of all ages exercising, walking with their children and pets, and chatting with neighbors. We appreciated that children could safely walk to school with their friends and classmates.

The entire family fell in love with 1133 Winsor. Built in 1925, the home was charming, and it was clear that previous owners had given it the attention and care it deserved. Our 9-year-old daughter was enamored with the laundry chute (still in use!) and all of us were thrilled to discover a wonderful dog park a couple of blocks away from the property. As I recall, there were several bids on the home – we were delighted that ours was accepted!

We’ve made some changes to the home in the ensuing years – always with the intent of honoring the legacy of the now nearly 100-year-old home. Through our remodels, we’ve tried to respect the original design of our home while meeting the needs of a busy modern family. Some of our favorite projects include the front courtyard and garden, dining room deck, and the customized kitchen. We’ve also updated bathrooms, enlarged the laundry, and added a very handy dog shower.

The Piedmont schools exceeded our expectations. Teachers, staff, and coaches were accessible, and provided excellent leadership and college preparation for our daughter. In addition to academics, we valued the consistent focus on community involvement and service. Even more tangible and lasting have been many friends we’ve made along the way.

We are returning to our roots in the Pacific Northwest to spend more time with our adult children and their growing families. As we look forward to this new chapter, we reflect on our time at 1133 Winsor and are so grateful for the wonderful friends and memories we’ve gathered over these many years. Winsor Avenue was exactly the right place at the right time for our family. We hope that you can be as fortunate.
